This course Global Production Management (GPM-VGU) is offered as part of the Global Production Engineering programme together with the Vietnamese-German University and is not part of the general course offering of the TU Berlin.

In June 2022, Paul Corkum, Ferenc Krausz, and Anne L’Huillier received the Wolf Prize in physics (the 2^nd most prestigious award in physics and chemistry after the Nobel Prize) for their seminal work on Attosecond Physics. In 2023, the Physics Nobel prize for experimental methods to generate attosecond pulses was awarded to Anne L’Huillier, Ferenc Krauss, and Pierre Agostini. This course, taught by some of the pioneers of this field, will combine theoretical foundations with experimental outlook and cover key topics in Attosecond Physics and its foundation, the interaction of intense laser fields with matter.

• Fundamentals of electronic Response to strong Laser Fields, One- and Multi Photon Processes, Optical Tunnelling

• Electron Motion after Strong-Field Ionization and its Consequences: High Harmonic Generation (HHG), Attosecond Laser-induced Electron Diffraction and Holography and Attosecond Dynamics of correlated Multi-Electron Processes

• Generation of Attosecond Spin-polarized Electron Pulses

• Attoclock and the Tunnelling Time Problem

• High Harmonic Spectroscopy in Atoms and Molecules

• Generation and Characterization of Attosecond Pulses and Attosecond Pulse Trains

• Time-resolved Spectroscopy of Electron Dynamics using Attosecond Pulses

• [BONUS] Ultrafast Chirality: inducing and detecting Electron Currents in chiral Molecules, extremely efficient chiral Discrimination of Molecules

• [BONUS] Evolution of Attosecond Spectroscopy from Atoms and Molecules to Solids: towards all-optical Imaging of topological Properties and Phase Transitions

Want to learn how to defend yourself against manipulation? During the ADDTRUTH workshops, you’ll dive straight into practice. Imagine participating in simulations where you take on different roles and experience firsthand how to react to subtle manipulative tactics. It’s like real-world training, where you get the chance to test your defense skills in a safe, controlled environment.

ADDTRUTH workshops are also a space for building trust - the foundation in today’s world, where trust is in constant decline. In a society filled with misinformation, fake news, and hidden agendas, the key to resisting manipulation is the ability to build authentic, trust-based relationships.

Additionally, each session will be concluded with a reflection session, where you can share your perspective on what happened during the workshop. Because manipulation isn’t black and white, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss the nuances and complexities of each scenario, helping you gain a deeper understanding of how to handle these situations in real life.

We’ll also bring in guest speakers from media, journalism, and academia to give you a broad perspective on the topic. They’ll introduce you to the latest research and real-world applications, helping you connect theory with practice, right here in an academic setting.

This project addresses a critical gap in the standard curriculum by offering an in-depth exploration of social engineering, focusing on manipulation and persuasion techniques. The workshops will touch upon different dimensions where manipulation is present in our lives: marketing and media studies, psychology, ethics, interpersonal interactions, and AI-powered technologies. Participants will gain critical tools to recognize, respond to, and reflect on the diverse dimensions of manipulation, and archives skills that are increasingly essential in a media-saturated, digitally connected society. By combining theoretical insights with experiential learning practices, the project equips students to analyze and navigate manipulative tactics in real-world scenarios.
