Jewish Exile, Diaspora und Sovereignty: Discussions and Debates in the 20th and 21st Century
This seminar explores historical and contemporary debates concerning Jewish exile and diaspora in the 20th and early 21st centuries as an alternative to Zionism and Jewish sovereignty. After providing the historical context and evolution of alternative conceptualizations of Zionism and their discussion, we will reflect on what appears as the latest stage of the Jewish emancipation discourse in our time: the emancipation from Zionism, from the State of Israel, and to a certain extent from secular forms of emancipation.
The closing workshop that will be hosted by Prof. Dr. Cedric Cohen Skalli and Dr. Marcus Funck together will focus on the four following works:
