Course Contents:

  • Analysis and modeling of complex thermal systems
  • Computer simulation tools to implement thermal models and characterize system behavior
  • Engineering economics in thermal system design and operation
  • Basic optimization methods and competence in their application to thermal systems
  • Component characterization and selection, design motivation criteria, economic and environmental considerations, creativity and synthesis in sustainable design

Course Organization:

  • Language:        All English (don’t worry, great opportunity to pick up some technical terms)
  • Prerequisites:   Desired: Thermodynamics 1, Heat Transfer, Heat and Mass Transfer or similar
  • SoSe 2024:       Lecture Part A (2 SWS), Practice Problems (1 SWS)
  • WiSe 2024/25: Lecture Part B (2 SWS), Practice Problems (1 SWS)
  • Credits:            6 LP, 1 written exam after Part B
