Overall, students gain in-depth knowledge about the alternative paths for open science and research transfer enabled through open source hardware. They will learn to prepare their participation for a conference and understand how to engage themselves. They will improve their ability for networking, notably through management-oriented coaching by lecturers and using a conferencing tool. Moreover, they get first-hand insights from industry and research on potential alternative future professional career paths. They will also be guided via a survey for reflecting their own reached successes and fulfilment of expectations. They will participate in a debrief meeting to discuss their experiences and create individual posters and video blogs (vlogs). Moreover, they will contribute to a joint blog article to report on discovered highlights during the event and relate to those from their own perceptions. In addition, they are connected with relevant practice partners for potential transdisciplinary follow-up research opportunities, where interested.
The course combines mostly self-learning elements, an online introduction sessions, participation to the OHS2026 event, one excursion and the preparation of reports in forms of text, sound and/or video blogs.
