
This course offers a modern, practice-oriented introduction to flow stability. It is taught jointly by experts from the Politecnico di Milano and the TU Berlin. Students develop a modern perspective on the topic, learn the core concepts, and apply them to significant case studies.
Course Highlights:
• Linear Stability Analysis: Learn to calculate stability in fluid mechanics using tools such as Felics for cylindrical flows and Blasius boundary layers.
• Dynamical Systems: Explore attractors, fixed points, and the Lorenz attractor.
• Advanced Topics: Study structural sensitivity, receptivity, and transient growth.
• Practical programming exercises to illustrate the topics covered in the lectures.
