The course covers the basics of RF and microwave engineering. After an introduction on the motivation and importance of microwave engineering, we will discuss the theory of transmission lines, the Smith chart, microwave networks and their different matrix representations, S-parameters, impedance transformation and matching, fundamentals of antennas and phased arrays, and the most important passive microwave components. We will also host a guest lecture from experts in the field on the topic of microwave noise measurements including a lab demo.
