This seminar continues our exploration of the relationship between architecture and trees, shifting attention from their ecological functions to their spatial, aesthetic, and cultural significance. From modernist architects, who sought to merge buildings with natural surroundings, to contemporary practices, which position trees as architectural elements imbued with cultural meaning, we will trace evolving approaches to the house–tree connection. Students will develop case studies and create individual artistic interpretations—through drawings, texts, images, or other formats—that reimagine the entanglement of house and tree.
