Quantitative Methods in Hydro(geo)logy: Hydrological, Hydrogeochemical and Stochastic Modeling
This course provides MSc Hydrogeology students with an integrated understanding of quantitative methods applied to hydrological and hydrogeochemical systems. The course combines classical hydrogeochemistry (thermodynamics, speciation, kinetics, redox, isotopes, colloids) with modern quantitative and stochastic modeling approaches, as well as data analysis techniques.
Students will gain both theoretical foundations and practical skills through exercises using PHREEQC, Excel, R, Python, MATLAB/COMSOL, and real-world datasets. By the end, they will be equipped to analyze hydrogeochemical processes, interpret environmental datasets, and apply stochastic methods to groundwater problems.
