SE Summer School "Conspiracism and Antisemitism"
Dozent: Dr. Marcus Funck, Termine: ZfA, TUB: 15 & 22 April, 10 & 17 June (Tuesdays), 10-12 a.m.; Sant'Anna, Pisa: 23 to 27 June

Antisemitism is strongly connected with conspirational thinking and many conspiracy theories contain antisemitic aspects or are even antisemitic at their cores. ZfA’s close cooperation partner, the Scuola Superiore di Sant’Anna in Pisa, is offering a summer school dedicated to the topic of antisemitism and conspiracy theories in multidisciplinary perspectives. In the course of one week, international scholars, among them faculty of the ZfA, will offer lectures and seminars. The summer school will take place in Pisa from June 23 to 27, travel dates are June 22 (Sunday) and June 28 (Saturday).

"The summer school will provide an introductory overview, through lectures offered by worldclass experts, on strategies to analyze, decode, and debunk some of the forms of political use of denialism and conspiracy theories with a focus on antisemitism. An interdisciplinary perspective will be adopted, including political theory, political philosophy, history, and political science, in order to offer a wide-ranging analysis of the phenomena being considered."

ZfA will cover all costs for registration, transportation and accommodation. However, after registration students will need to book their own flights / train rides as soon as possible, and will be reimbursed after the event.

There will be four preparatory meetings in Berlin: 15 & 22 April and 10 & 17 June. Students must be present at all meetings without exception. Interested graduate students (Master and Ph.D. level only) will be asked to submit a project proposal (max. one page) until end of May (exact day to be determined) and will present these to the group during the preparatory meetings in June. These project proposals are thematically open and can focus on any any aspect related to conspiracy theories or conspiracist thought and their medial dissemination. Students also need to register with the Pisa program no later than 28 April. (All formal technicalities will be discussed in our first two meetings in April)

Participation is limited to ten students. Master and Ph.D. student at the ZfA are given preference. If more than ten students are interested, a selection will be made on the basis of the submitted project proposals.
