Gerontechnology is the intersection between gerontology and technology and is utilized for entertainment, communication, and employment as well as to maintain physical and mental health, self-esteem and well-being, as well as to support aging in place, transportation, and the accomplishment of work and leisure activities, among other things.
This course introduces students to various healthcare technologies that alleviate the burden associated with ageing, with a focus on designing and developing appropriate technological innovations for the silver economy. The lectures will cover demographic, biological, economic, social and cultural aspects of active aging and healthy living, along with tools and concepts for analyzing and developing viable innovative solutions for aging populations.
