Im Rahmen der wachsenden Anforderung des Internets müssen immer größere Bandbreiten bereitgestellt werden. Aufgrund der im optischen Spektralbereich vorhandenen sehr hohen Bandbreite ist die Lichtleitfaser das ideale Übertragungsmedium für höchste Informationsmengen. Deshalb besteht auch das heutige Telekommunikations-Festnetz bis auf die Anschlussleitung zum Teilnehmer nahezu ausschließlich aus faseroptischen Übertragungssystemen. In der Veranstaltung "Einführung in die Optische Nachrichtentechnik" werden die dafür erforderlichen Grundlagen vermittelt.
An increase in bandwidth is necessary to cope with the growing requirements of the internet. Due to the availability in the very high bandwidth, the optical fiber is the ideal transmission medium for the highest amounts of information. Therefore, today's telecommunication networks are almost exclusively built from optical fiber transmission systems. In this course the required fundamentals of optical communications will be taught.
