The goal of this course is to engage the basics of material science with the latest developments in thin film technologies.

The modern relevant analytical methods and thin film devices are also reviewed.

A. Materials:
-  overview of functional materials  (Lecs.1-3)
-  basic knowledge in solid state chemistry & physics (Lecs.4&5)

 B. Scientific Analysis:

-  interaction of irradiation with matter (Lec.6)

-  thin films relevant analytic methods (Lecs.7&8)

 C. Development:

-  special analyses for surfaces and interfaces (Lec.9)

-  paterning techniques (Lec.10)

-  thin film devices: overview and outlook (Lecs.11&12)
