This module introduces into advanced topics in wireless communication systems, preparing you to contribute to research projects during your master thesis in this field. The module mainly covers MIMO and adaptive transmission for multiple users in mobile systems. Therefore we focus onto the physical and medium access layers, but discuss also the neceassary support from the network and higher layers.

The course will be presented as lecture/seminar at TU Berlin covering following main topics.

Module contents:

1)     Introduction

2)     MIMO: MIMO channels, SVD, Capacity, Channel estimation and feedback, transmission algorithms

3)     Adaptive Transmission: Adaptive vs. blind transmission, Waterfilling, Bitloading, Multiuser MIMO, Fairness, Coordinated transmission, Clustering and user selection

4)     Recent research topics: Massive MIMO, Fiber-wireless systems, THz , optical wireles communications (LiFi)

Slides can be downloaded below.

I will present the material live and answer questions.
