Welcome to the course 'Functional Analysis I' (SoSe 22)! In this introductory course, we will start with metric and normed spaces. Important examples of such will be given in the form of function spaces, sequence spaces and measure spaces. Next, linear continuous operators acting between normed spaces will be studied, leading to the famous Hahn-Banach theorem and its various consequences. Together with the other three fundamental theorems (open mapping, closed graph, Banach-Steinhaus), dual spaces, reflexive spaces and weak convergence will be studied. Finally, we will conclude the course with the spectral theory of compact, self-adjoint operators on Hilbert spaces.
