This lecture treats stationary nonlinear partial differential equations using methods from the theory of monotone operators. After a short excursion to fundamental topics of functional analysis (weak- and weak*-convergence, reflexive Banach spaces and the theorems of Hahn-Banach and Banach-Steinhaus), we will cover Browder-Minty's theorem for monotone operators and Brezis' theorem for pseudomonotone operators as well as the theory of potential operators. Finally we will apply these theories to study the stationary Navier-Stokes equation.
The lecture will be held weekly and is worth 5 ECTS.
Inhalt
In dieser Vorlesung beschäftigen wir uns mit stationären nichtlinearen partiellen Differentialgleichungen mit Hilfe der Theorie monotoner Operatoren. Nach einer kurzen Exkursion zu fundamentalen Resultaten aus der Funktionalanalysis (schwache und schwach* Konvergenz, reflexive Banachräume und die Sätze von Hahn-Banach und Banach-Steinhaus) werden wir uns mit dem Satz von Browder-Minty für monotone Operatoren, dem Satz von Brezis für pseudomonotone Operatoren und der Theorie der Potentialoperatoren beschäftigen. Am Ende der Vorlesung werden wir die kennengelernten Resultate anwenden, um die stationäre Navier-Stokes-Gleichung zu untersuchen.
Die Vorlesung findet wöchentlich statt und umfasst 5 LP.
