Time and Location

The project takes place as a four week block course during the semester break at the end of the summer semester, starting on 03.08.2021.

Procedure

The project will start with multiple lectures that provide the theoretical background and methods relevant to the topic of the project. The students will mostly work independently on a topic in small groups, but will review their progress regularly with the teachers. The task comprises literature review, experimental data acquisition and/or numerical simulations and evaluation and analysis of the gathered data. Experiments will be supported by the teachers. The results will be documented in a final report and presented in a scientific presentation at the end of the course.

General contents

  • work on a specific question from the field of combustion technology (e.g. laminar burning velocity, exhaust gas composition/ pollutant poformation, ignition delay times) based on experimental methods employing modern measurement technologies and/ or simulations with the software package Cantera
  • choice of a suitable method for processing and analysis of the obtained data and comparison to literature data, evaluation of the methods and their uncertainties

Registration

The number of participants is limited. Places are assigned on a "first come, first serve"-basis. Interested students can register using the following link.
