Dear Polymer Science students,

we have a very unusual semester ahead of us. We will have no courses in classrooms and labs. Instead, we will offer everything online to you. This is the very first time we do this. So please be patient with us.

In our course Polymerization Technology, you will learn how to scale-up a polymerization reaction from the lab scale to industrial production. This includes the kinetics and thermodynamics of the polymerization reaction, the characteristics of different reactors and especially the influence of the reaction conditions on the performance of the reactor and the quality of the product.

We will communicate with you through this ISIS learning platform. Please register here as soon as possible without a keyword, because we have to” lock” the courses later with a keyword.

You will find all relevant information here. First of all, the lecture notes for this course. Reading these notes will be the essential way of participation in this course. Once a week I will circulate exercises. I would be happy if participants could present their solutions. The links for the online meetings will also be announced here. Please check it frequently, because it might change for capacity reasons.

I will provide the lectures as videos or simultaneous videoconferences to you. The videos will include the corresponding page numbers of the lecture notes. We will have meetings in a videoconference room for Q and A, and exercises. Our simultaneous online sessions will be announced week by week. We will use essentially the original lecture hours to share our IT infrastructure similar to the classroom at other times.

We will not have lab experiments as usual. We will try to prepare virtual lab experiments, but I do not know it will work. Perhaps we will have a block course later in summer. In any case, you will get the full number of credit points, because the workload for you will be the same as for earlier courses.
