This module's main objective is to introduce students to the different conventions and charters around the safeguarding of tangible cultural heritage, with particular emphasis on the practical aspect and workflows of safeguarding cultural heritage, especially after disasters (Natural or Human-made).

The module builds on demonstrating theory on practical study cases, which means that Participants will analyze study cases from disasters worldwide, studied, and criticized. In the following stage, participants must create a best-case scenario on the first steps after a disaster occurs.

The students will have the chance to apply their suggested best-case workflow on an object in Brandenburg, within the frame of an organized excursion with our cooperation partners, the German Archaeological Institute. The exact excursion date will be announced in the course of the seminar.
