Cours

Final Thesis Research Colloquium ELAN

This course provides an comprehensive introduction to the theory and practice of Permaculture Design, combining classroom-based learning with hands-on activities and site-based experiences. Drawing on the internationally recognized Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) curriculum, students will explore ecological principles, design methods, pattern understanding, climate strategies, soil and water systems, sustainable food production systems, ecological building methods and social permaculture.

Alongside theoretical sessions, the course includes practical workshops, design exercises, and excursions to example sites for applied permaculture design and permaculture projects in and around Berlin, offering students direct engagement with regenerative design systems in both urban and rural settings.

Through individual and group design work, students will develop small but impactful design exercises.

During the winter semester we will put little more emphasis on theory then practice and subsequently spend more time indoors than outdoors while still visiting various sites. Design exercises might be smaller in scope as compared to what students might be able to develop in the summer.

The course is ideal for students seeking to integrate ecological literacy and sustainable design into their personal life as well as their academic or professional fields. It will be conducted entirely in English.
