Course Overview

Welcome to "Modellieren in der Bauinformatik," the foundational course in our scientific specialization on computing in civil engineering. This master's level course is designed to equip you with advanced skills in modern software development practices, particularly as they apply to the field of construction informatics.

Course Content

The course covers four main areas:

1. Advanced Object-Oriented Modeling: Delve deeper into OOP concepts and their application in construction-related software development.
2. Data Structures and Test-Driven Development (TDD): Learn to write tests before code, ensuring robust and maintainable software solutions.
3. Database Principles: Explore fundamental concepts of database design and management in the context of civil engineering projects.
4. Version Control: Master the essentials of tracking and managing changes in your software and construction projects.

While we will provide basic introductions to these topics, the course is designed to quickly advance to more complex concepts and applications.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of programming, particularly in Java, is recommended but not mandatory. Students without prior programming experience should be prepared for a steeper learning curve and may need to dedicate additional time to mastering the basics or can attend the Fundamentals Course in parallel.
