The Economics of Climate Change is an introductory course into the economic assessment of climate change impacts and optimal mitigation and adaptation response. Welfare-economic concepts such as cost-benefit analysis, (inter-generational) discounting, non-market valuation, and different concepts of social welfare are applied to understand the impact of climate change and climate change mitigation on long-term welfare and growth. 6 ECTS are awarded for the full course. If only the lecture is attended, 3 ECTS are awarded.

Grading: Based on weekly problem sets and a mid-term exam; no final exam. Make sure you attend the course from the beginning on, as we start with assignments immediately. Ph.D. students will be asked to take an oral exam in addition to the assignments and the mid-term exam. 6 ECTS are awarded for the full course. If only the lecture is attended, 3 ECTS are awarded.

Time and date: The lecture takes place on Fridays 14.15 – 15.45 in room BH-N 243 ; the tutorial on Mondays 10.15 – 11.45 in room H 2013. 

On the first day of classes, April 15, we will have either an online tutorial or a tutorial in a different room. Be sure to watch for the announcement on ISIS.

Registration: The official registration to the examination office is done through MOSES, or via e-mail with all required information for non-TU-Students. Additionally, we ask you to fill our internal registration form.

We also welcome students from HU, FU, Potsdam, and Gasthörer (visiting students). There is no restriction on Wahlfach- or Zusatzmodul-students.
