DIDAKTISCHE ARCHITEKTUR - „ZWEI FLIEGEN MIT EINER KLAPPE“

Im Wintersemester steht das Thema ‘didaktische Architektur’ zentral. Der Begriff hat für uns mehrfache Bedeutung: er beschreibt einerseits eine Architektur, die sich als räumliche Übersetzung pädagogischer Konzepte versteht. Andererseits gehen wir auf die Suche nach einer Architektur die selbst ‘didaktisch’ ist: selbsterklärend, lesbar und kommunikativ, in Hinsicht auf ihre Struktur, ihre Räumlichkeit und ihr Materialkonzept. Als Standort wählen wir ein geräumiges, innerstädtisches Grundstück in Brüssel, mit bestehenden Schulgebäuden und Provisorien aus den 50er Jahren unterschiedlicher Qualität. Es gibt Raum für größere und kleinere Interventionen, die präzise und detailliert bis hin zur Innenraumgestaltung und dem Mobiliar ausgearbeitet werden sollen. Der Ort soll neu gedacht und strukturiert werden mit teilweise vorgegebenen, teilweise frei wählbaren Funktionen. Eine Exkursion nach Brüssel bildet den Auftakt des Semesters, mit u.a. einem Besuch an das ABC-Haus (www.abc-web.be), einem ‘didaktischen Vorbild Projekt’ und besonderen, multidisziplinären Ort der Inspiration.

DIDACTIC ARCHITECTURE - ́TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE`

The central theme of the winter semester is ‚didactic architecture‘. The term has multiple meanings for us: on the one hand, it describes an architecture that sees itself as a spatial translation of pedagogical concepts. On the other hand, we are searching for an architecture that is ‚didactic‘ in itself: self-explanatory, legible and communicative in terms of its structure, its spatiality and its material concept.

As a location, we choose a spacious, inner-city site in Brussels, with existing school buildings and provisional pavilions from the 1950s of varying quality and cha- racter. There is room for larger and smaller interventions, which are to be worked out precisely and in detail, right down to the interior design and the furniture. The site is to be rethought and re- structured with partly predefined, partly freely selectable functions. An excursion to Brussels will kick off the semester, including a visit to the ABC House (www.abc-web. be), a ‚didactic model project‘ and a special, multidiscplinary place of inspiration.
