The course "Scales and Methodology" investigates the properties of building typologies by means of an architectural research approach. A set of reference projects that represent mixed-use and dense housing typologies in urban fringes will be analyzed and documented in various scales using morphological analysis methods. In the seminar, you will learn to develop aspects and criteria of architectural analysis, learn to use comparative spatial analysis methods, morphological examination and mappings, and to document, present and discuss the results.

Die Bachelor Thesis Klasse "Critical Mass 2 - An Investigation into Mixed Housing Types for Suburban Areas” zielt vor diesem Hintergrund darauf ab, innovative, dichte und gemischt genutzte Wohnbautypologien mit einer kritischen Masse für städtische Randbereiche zu entwickeln und dadurch Visionen und Potentiale für ein zukünftiges Leben an der Schnittstelle zwischen Stadt und Landschaft erörtern.

Series of courses: ‘Fictions, Fantasies and Fabulations‘

‘Fictions, Fantasies and Fabulations‘ is a series of courses which offer a frame for an open examination and exploration in spatial and artistic practices. The title refers to an upcoming idea journal (2022) and is to be understood as a call for projects and papers at the same time.
We will turn our imagination to dreams, speculations and ‘what ifs’.
- dreams as a means to recover from the trauma of the Covid-19 Pandemic
- speculations as a critique of conformity and the status quo with the aim to spark alternative visions
- ‘what ifs’ as invitation to explore the impossible in order to move our limits.
Possible goals are critical reflections, speculative intervention, productive resistance to pragmatism as well as other fictitious spatial practices. The means for this are imagining, reading, discussing, mapping, drawing, writing ...

Please note: due to the pandemic restrictions this course will only be offered on ISIS and Miro - plus - there will be four to five block events via Zoom during the lecture period. The course is rewarded with 3 credit points - which adds up to a workload of 90 working hours.
The precise dates of these block events are subject to joint coordination.

Walking : Practice // Master Modul Arch M WP(3) adip Intensive Programme (IP)

Series of courses: “Fictions, Fantasies and Fabulations“

The practical part, a field trip, of my “Fictions, Fantasies and Fabulations“ series of courses will lead us to the city Vienna.


Vienna offers a wide range of spatial narratives and experiences that advance the practice and experimentation of “walking” as a method. By doing so we will explore contemporary artistic interventions in the city, walk to the icons of modernism and through significant Viennese residential developments and will also visit some new urban development areas. 
The preparation of a small brochure as well as some practical experiments while we are in Vienna are part of the seminar. 


Please note: due to the pandemic restrictions this field trip will take place in September 2021 - 4 to 5 days are planned for the trip. Additionally there will be two block events (2 to 3 days each on ISIS plus zoom) during the lecture period to prepare the trip, the tasks/experiments in Vienna and the final brochure. The course is rewarded with 6 credit points - which adds up to a workload of 180 hours.
The precise dates of these block events and of the trip are subject to joint coordination. 


The field trip is not subsidized!

Das Seminar startet am 14.04.21 auf der ISIS Plattform - der erste Präsenztermin via Zoom findet am Mittwoch, den 21.04.21 um 12.00 Uhr statt.
Teilnahmebedingung ist die selbstständige Bearbeitung der 1. Aufgabe VORAB und das erfolgreiche Hochladen der Arbeit auf der ISIS Plattform bis zum Präsenztermin !

Walking & Mapping // BA Architektur :  WP Modul  6.2.4 Kunst - Zeichnung und Malerei (Fächergruppe Darstellen und Gestalten)
Seminarreihe: “Fictions, Fantasies and Fabulations“

Das Seminar “Walking & Mapping“ ist Bestandteil der “Fictions, Fantasies and Fabulations“ Seminarreihe in der wir die Praxis des Gehens in Architektur und Kunst theoretisch, zeichnerisch und praktisch weiter erforschen.
In dieser Lehrveranstaltung werden wir ganz konkret das Walking und das Mapping als Entwurfsmethode und als künstlerische Praxis vertiefen und weiter erforschen. Es werden Praktiken der Wahrnehmung und Erkundung von Stadtlandschaften vorgestellt und in kurzen Übungsaufgaben getestet.
Der Fokus liegt dabei auf der experimentellen Erkundung des Stadtraumes durch das Walking (Spaziergänge), auf möglichen Darstellungsstrategien komplexer Zusammenhänge in Notationen und Mappings sowie auf narrativen Raumerzählungen.

Die Lehrveranstaltung wird ausschliesslich über ISIS und Zoom angeboten. Die Walkingpraxis kann im Team durchgeführt werden.
