Some design houses, others draw up park plans, organise workshops, or draft petitions. Feminist spatial practices span beyond what is typically considered Architecture in order to create diverse ‘good’ spaces for the 99%.
This collective, self-directed research project explores feminist spatial practices for the 99% on the case of Berlin. Working in small groups, students will identify and analyse initiatives that reshape the built environment through practices of care, agency-building, and spatial justice. The output of this research is a collective piece that will be integrated into the exhibition Beyond Architecture: Czech and Slovak spatial practices for the 99% which will take place in the Forum of the A-building in June 2026 and then travel to Bratislava. The seminar culminates in a five-day workshop-excursion in Berlin co-organised by the students of the seminar to explore, together with students from Prague, Berlin’s feminist spatial practices for the 99%.
The studio will be conducted in English, though basic German language skills are recommended due to the local research context.
The seminar takes place mostly during the first 10 weeks of the semester and requires intensive work during this period. It includes a workshop-excursion in Berlin between 10.–14.6. after which the seminar’s main work concludes.
